This year, SAMF will be featuring 6 curated stages in addition to the two main installments. We’ve outlined the curated stages to help you get to know the who’s who within the Spring Awakening lineup:
After a successful debut at SAMF last year, Body Language is returning with a groove-infused list of House DJ’s to kick off the weekend. Tropical triumph, Thomas Jack will be headlining this stage with his blend of uplifting beats and saxophone laden compositions. Joining Thomas Jack are a collection of artists with a slightly deeper sound. London’s own deep house maestro Route 94 will be accompanied by a slew of local favorites including Felix Da Housecat, Gene Farris, Redux and Servante. Representing the Dirtybird crew at SAMF will be Billy Kenny who will be spinning his own interpretation of Body Language.
For those that choose to soar through that atmosphere with a sense of euphoria and melodic undertones will find a home at The Trance Arena. This dance outfit is going down on day two of the festival and will highlight some freshest names in the genre as well as feature award winning producers. The Trance Arena is a crowd favorite at Spring Awakening every year and this year's lineup is as stacked as ever including a headlining performance from Grammy Award winning Trance veteran Paul Van Dyk. Another veteran, Paul Oakenfold will be taking the stage behind his forthcoming multimedia project "Generations" which encompasses his role throughout the past 30 years of dance music. Armada Music label mates Andrew Rayel and MaRlo, Detroit native and IAMPHOENIX label owner Kenneth Thomas, and Chicago club frequents Mario Florek B2B Pete Kontor and Ratanjit Gupta rounds out the Trance Arena with one more Special Guest DJ still to be announced!
Highly esteemed music publication, Dancing Astronaut has accrued their version of EDM heaven as they set to start off the weekend opposite Body Language. Perhaps one of the most anticipated and respected DJ’s on the lineup, Benny Benassi, is scheduled to headline the Astronaut stage. However, to get your full satisfaction get to the festival early for diverse tech-house pro Sander Van Doorn, electro anthem creators Bingo Players and soaring bass makers Audien and Party Favor. Chicago remix masters, Axilon and local club mainstay Xonic will also be adding to flavor the Dancing Astronaut rager.
Those looking for a more aggressive approach to dance music will find a home in the wobble fueled Bass Kitchen. After serving up a smorgasbord of the latest bass and trap tunes in venues throughout the years, Bass Kitchen is a welcomed curated addition to the SAMF arena. Closing out the festival Sunday in true head banging fashion will be the modern dubstepper, Snails. Supporting the bass-twisting headliner will be the unparalleled beats provided by Kill The Noise, trap prince Hucci, as well as, the piercing electronic bass energy provided by Spag Heady and Barely Alive. Local subwoofer murderers Stratus, Light.Em.Up., and 2Fac3d vs. Raakmo will be leading things off for this stage. Come get your fill of grime served up at the Bass Kitchen.
Above and Beyond’s deep house imprint, Anjunadeep, will be on full display all day on Saturday. Leading the charge in the deep and melodic will be Australian indie-dance outfit Rufus du Sol. Rufus du Sol will be in good company as a stacked list of Anjunadeep label mates will be keeping this stage bumping throughout the day including sets from House journeyman Lane 8, Chicago-based disco thumper Moon Boots, as well as eclectic and experimental House players Jody Wisternoff and Yotto. For SAMF, come find some of the best in House and Techno at this stage including a headlining appearance from London-based duo Gorgon City who provide elements of mainstream lyricism that blend with deep and resounding bass drops and loops which resemble their Sunday School classmates.
