Electric Forest recently unveiled the first-ever “Her Forest”Curated Event that gives the opportunity to shine a light on empowerment while discovering new and unique women performers.
As the seventh annual Electric Forest music and camping festival in Rothbury, Michigan, for the first time taking place over 2 weekends (June 22-25 and June 29- July 2), we see the expansion as a great opportunity for other festivals to see the impact. The expansion also aids to people’s summer festival schedules, as well.
The announcement of the Her Forest event stems from the success of last year’s program and Women’s-themed panel discussion. This one-of-a-kind program will nurture a sense of connection and empowerment like never-before.
Performers were selected from hundreds of fan submissions that auditioned to experience this unique celebration of women and beauty around us. Winners of the first weekend of EF’s debut event include: solo female DJ/ producer and violinist Alfiya Glow, Indian dance duo, The Dance of Anarkali, upbeat California pair, Heartwurkz, female DJ M.O.B., unconventional dance and soundscape artist Frankie Taminal, and female singer/piano/looping talent Melody Monroe. We also get a taste of Lynx & The Servants of Song and non-binary EF2017 Monarch Winner, Monarch Rachel & Their Royal Court Drag Show.
As a plan to expand the movement, EF 2017 and Her Forest are offering more activities that include Women’s Group Camp, a Her Forest Artist Panel, a Meet & Greet with EF Production Women, plus, Her Forest Circles and Meet-ups throughout the first and second week of EF.
New in 2017- the Her Forest Camp will curate a schedule of informal Meet-ups around the festival and offer an opportunity for participants to experience a connection more deeply with themselves and each other. Allowing the opportunity to self-express one’s self is what EF encourages; with the Her Forest program, that initiative is clear.
