The “Ocean to Ocean” Tour supporting Tori Amos’ 2021 album of the same name made its way to Portland, Oregon’s Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall on Tuesday night. Amos is currently on a world tour, with Europe following North America. She’s been joined by British drummer Ash Soan, as well as longtime bandmate and recording bassist Jon Evans.

Performance and venue shared in mutually ornate, timeless aesthetic. Amos revealed a set balanced with old and new. Ocean to Ocean was given proper attention, as were classics from throughout her career, but each evening has also been made unique with special requests from fans and friends. Musicianship, presence, and ambience were all first class. Amos’ vocals nor smiles never faltered, not even while simultaneously playing a grand piano with her right hand and a keyboard with her left. Deservedly, she received standing ovations for almost every song. In fact, the audience seemed to just find it hard to remain seated for sheer enjoyment. After breaking out “Cornflake Girl,” the crowd’s blare summoned her encore, which ended with a lively and colorful “Raspberry Swirl.”
