Gramatik in Louisville 9/10/13 Review

by on

Headliners Music Hall in Louisville, Kentucky hosted an electronic trifecta of bass on Tuesday, September 10th, featuring a headliner himself, Gramatik; along with his side project ExMag (aka ExM4G) and heRobust who were ready to pave the way for the main event. ExMag raged a solid set featuring two DJs, a guitarist, keys and vocals.  The group really started to heat up midway through their set with a rendition of Blackstreet’s “No Diggity.” Was it the best take on the classic I’ve ever heard? Close, but nevertheless, it was a mighty fine way to get the party started and that’s exactly what happened.

ExMag left the stage with the crowd amped up and hungry for trap sensation, heRobust. Big build ups, bigger drops, and mixing popular tunes from Krewella, Skrillex and others into his own beats gave off a dope vibe which continued the party that ExMag kicked off.  Minute after minute, and drop after relentless bass drop, you could feel the room getting hotter and the excitement starting to swell.

After heRobust did his job captivating the crowd, Gramatik gave no pause before jumping in the DJ booth. With only the roots of Gramatik on stage now (digital equipment and a guitar), the duo was ready to kill it…and that’s exactly what they did; killed it! From the moment they took the stage, they banged it out like EDM bosses and left zero room for error or doubt.

To sum up the night’s event for the party it was; ExMag got you into the party, HeRobust set the vibe and Gramatik was that level of pure show-seductive that makes you lose control.

Now, if you have an opportunity to see the tour at a venue near you, do you yourself a favor and GO!  Get your significant other and/or your crew ready, pick your best dancing shoes, and select a date and place, because this tour of bass and vibes is nothing you want to miss!
