With just under two weeks to go, the good people at Gem and Jam Festival are working around the clock to make sure that this rarity of a music and arts festival goes down with a bang this February 7th – 9th. Gem and Jam Festival is a one-of-a-kind festival that takes breath-taking art installments from icons in the psychedelic art community like Alex Grey and combines it with top-notch, live music gurus in the festival scene like MiMOSA; all of these forms of art are to be showcased aside one of the largest displays of rare stones in the world.
The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show is going on now and lasts a full 3 weeks, however, no three of the 21 days will be compare to the madness that will unfold as the 8th annual Gem and Jam Festival kicks off.
In addition to the gems and the jams, an arsenal of painters will unite to do their very best of their craft LIVE for patrons of Gem and Jam to gaze at! Dancers from a multitude of backgrounds, including those that use fire, are also scheduled to demonstrate their talents for festival-goers to admire.
Both Alex Grey and his wife Allyson will be on-site to participate in workshops in hopes to pass their knowledge onto those not only ready to appreciate their art, but those who would like to improve their own craft.
When it comes to the craft of live music, Gem and Jam Festival did an excellent job creating a melting pot of good music to fulfill the cravings from fans in many different genres. Backing up MiMOSA includes the likes of Boombox, Purity Ring (DJ Set), The Motet, Bluetech, along with a trio from Pretty Lights Music made up of Elliot Lipp, Paul Basic, and SuperVision; plus many more!
In addition to the main events of Gem and Jams, late-night events held by Thriftworks, Random Rab, Project Aspect and many more! Late-night events start at 2am and go until 6am each night of the festival!
